The Pre-Market gauge displays market trends for securities traded on ECN's in pre-open, or 'Island' trading, usually between 8:00am and 9:30am ET. This trend is not sector specific but is, to some extent, exchange specific, since NASDAQ listed securities are the primary participants in pre-market and after-hours trading. The intent of this indicator is to provide investors with insight as to how the markets will open, and is not in any way an indicator as to how the day will unfold.
